The Motor Trend 1996 Truck of the Year was the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe. What makes this Tahoe even more unique? This Tahoe was built as rear wheel drive 2 door with a front middle seat that doubled as a flip up console. And the story of this Tahoe gets even better because when it left the factory the Tahoe was shipped to Japan. You heard that correctly… Japan, where it received a proper c-notch 4-7 drop, 20” Akuza Road Concept wheels, headers, custom exhaust, shaved rear handle, roll pan, and some audio/video upgrades. Low miles and well-kept by the previous owner.

This Tahoe features an Olympic White (Paint Code 50) exterior that has been modified with a rear roll pan and shaved rear handle on the back end. The exterior paint shows well and no signs of rust on the body. All bumper guards and trim have been removed plus the roof features no roof rack. In most car enthusiast communities we call this a slick roof. The stance has been dropped correctly with what appears to be a 4” spring and spindle drop in the front and a properly done 7” C-notch rear. 20” Akuza Road Concept Chrome wheels fill wheel wells nicely and accent the vehicle well. A set of 245/35ZR20 Falken Azenis tires wrapped around the twenties with a date code of 06/2021 and plenty of tread depth. The wheels do have some pitting which is noticeable.

Inside the vehicle we have a beautiful blue interior including well-kept blue leather seats. The front middle seat also has a flip up console making this Tahoe a 2-door that holds 6 passengers. Previous owner made a few modifications to the interior including accenting some trim with a foil leaf layered two color silver effect and under dash lighting. Audio/video updates include a Japanese market Pioneer AVIC-HRZ900 HDD Navigation 6.75” screen head unit with Pioneer Carrozzeria component speakers. In the rear cargo area you will find a Pioneer compact powered subwoofer. Other interior modifications include a Chevy bowtie logo rear view mirror and Lecarra steering wheel.

Under the hood is a 5.7L fuel-injected V8 which has been modified and well-maintained. We do not have records of the engine replacement but on inspection the engine block has been replaced recently. A set great sounding set of long tube headers and custom Flow Master 60 Series performance exhaust was added. On top of the engine sits and larger air filter for better flow, chrome Edelbrock air cleaner lid, and chrome valve covers for horse power gains. The Tahoe runs great, shifts well, and rides nicely down the interstate. Recent maintenance includes rebuilt front end, front sway bar bushings, shocks, AC Condenser, AC system recharge, brake pads, brake rotors, and fluids.
